My friend Nancy said a great thing to me last night. She said, “I am realizing that is what the Law of Attraction is all about—cracking up.”
No, not cracking up as in they will be hauling you off to a mental institution. Cracking up laughing.
My Law of Attraction guru Andy Dooley tells us, “Feeling first, manifestation second.”
How does laughing make you feel? Pretty damn good!
There’s a shitload of things we can do to manifest the life of our dreams. EFT, visualization, meditation, the list goes on and on. These are awesome tools and I use them all the time.
But what does it all boil down to? How do we really manifest the life that we truly want?
Simply by feeling good. There you have it!! OK, now go forth and manifest.
What?!, you say…that’s all there is to it?
Oh, but wait—there is one catch. Being human. Crap, I forgot about that for a second.
Us crazy humans—we like to tell lots of stories. We like to act out our dramas and live in our regrets of the past and worry about the future. We try to keep life exciting by not manifesting what we want and then lamenting the fact that despite all of our efforts things just aren’t working out the way we want them to.
Also last night I got a wonderful Christmas card from good friends who I grew up with. Reading it made me bust a tear and a wave of gratitude washed over me for them and all the amazing people I have in my life. I felt truly blessed.
But this simple scenario could have gone another way. Instead I could have gotten a wave of anxiety thinking I should have sent out Christmas cards this year. I suck as a friend—here they are taking the time to write me this nice note and I don’t even reciprocate. They probably think I just don’t give a shit about them.
I could write pages on where that thinking madness could go. And I know you know what I am talking about—don’t act like you’ve never gone there. It’s this gift we get as humans—this insane ability to think about things. It can really put a damper on the aforementioned feeling good.
So what can we do about it? Are we sunk being human and all?
No, but we have to stay on top of it. Truly the only thing we need to do in life is to feel good—from there everything else will take care of itself.
So this holiday season when the temptation arises to stress out about all the things we have to do and to move mindlessly about our business thinking about the next thing that has to get done, catch yourself and STOP! Stop and think about all the good things there are in your life. Stop and be grateful for all of those things. Stop and take joy in whatever it is you are doing. Stop and take a moment to crack up laughing.
This, my friends, is the ancient Chinese secret you’ve all been looking for. Or is that Calgon? Shoot, I thought I was on to something for a minute…
