Weekend with the Universe

This past weekend I was so fortunate to be able to attend Mike Dooley’s (Notes from the Universe) Infinite Possibilities Train the Trainer Conference in Seattle, WA and to finally meet in person my mentor Andy Dooley. Wow.

As I sit here to write this post I don’t really know what to say about it. Words escape me trying to describe the energy of two hundred like minded cool people coming together for a common purpose—to share Universal truths and to learn how to share them with others. Every presenter was phenomenal and inspiring. Trainers from past conferences spoke and had amazing tales of the work they had done. So many different stories and viewpoints but all pointing in the same direction—“Thoughts Become Things.”

This famous Mike Dooley quote is a neat sort of summary of his book, Infinite Possibilities, The Art of Living Your Dreams. I like how he calls it an art—because it really is if you think about it. Whether we know it or not, or like it or not, our thoughts which create our beliefs shape the reality that we see in front of us. Not just some of the time. Not on occasion when we have a really great thought. All the time. It’s a Universal Law just like the Law of Gravity and it is absolutely working in our lives all the time, no matter what kind of thoughts we are thinking. Doesn’t that make you want to “Choose the good ones.”? (2nd part to famous Mike Dooley quote)

Really, it’s that simple. To say, that is. But is it simple to do? Well, yes, but you have to do it. Damn—she’s telling us to do something again, first with the juice, geez! Ok, don’t panic—it’s actually FUN! And just wait until you see the results.

When it comes down to it, life is as scary or hard or wonderful or beautiful as we think it is. That’s right—as we think it is. We have a choice, every moment, of where we put our attention, of what thoughts we think, and of how we react to what’s occurring in front of us. We have a choice. We are not victims of circumstances—they are just circumstances. Our thoughts and beliefs, our actions and reactions to these circumstances, is where the magic happens. It’s what shapes our lives and sets up future circumstances. Our thoughts align us vibrationally with more of the same. Again, doesn’t that make you want to “Choose the good ones.”?

So when I say you have to do it, what exactly does that mean? What is this it we should be doing? Employ these truths in your life. Walk the talk. Choose to feel the love that surrounds you rather than noticing the ugly things that can happen on this planet. See the awe inspiring beauty of the earth. See the best in everyone you come across. Embrace the contrast.

If you are not familiar with these concepts you may be thinking, this is Pollyannaish and stupid—life is what it is and there is nothing I can do about it. If so, I would like to respectfully respond, No!—only you can do something about it. You are the creator. It’s up to you.

This might seem scary at first, but it is actually super empowering and hopeful. No matter what has happened in your life so far, you have the power to steer it from this day forward in any direction you would like. It’s not just wishful thinking—it IS. So give it a shot. Do it! Find out where it can take you.
