Are you into the Law of Attraction? Do you read about it all the time? Are you good at manifesting some things into your life—always in the right place at the right time? Do you consistently get prime parking spots in crowded lots?
But does the Law of Attraction fail you when it comes to weight loss? Or do you think it doesn’t even apply?
Well, I must tell you that the Law of Attraction NEVER fails you and yes it applies to everything.
So why can’t you lose the weight? Should be easy right?
Yes—RIGHT! Believe it or not it can be easy but you have to radically change your thoughts and beliefs to attract what it is you want, which is weight loss, instead of focusing on what you don’t want, lack of weight loss.
Many of us have a conditioned belief that we are not good enough–that our bodies are simply unacceptable. The solution we are given to fix this problem is to diet. Have some willpower for God’s sake!
And what happened? As a nation we are getting heavier and heavier. What is wrong here?
Pretty much everything.
First of all, at any weight, THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU! Your weight or size is not who you are. It is just the most current manifestation of your physical form.
I remember (and probably will never be able to forget) after my mom died I was home trying to help my dad out. I can’t recall how it came up, but he told me he would pay me to lose weight—10 bucks a pound. Then he proceeded to explain, say if you lose 100 pounds—you would get 1000 dollars.
OK, I was pretty overweight. I don’t get on the scale but I’ve probably lost around 60 pounds, as I lost 6-7 sizes. Who knows—if I weighed myself I might find out it was more. Regardless, to hear that was shocking and made me realize how my own father saw me—100 or more pounds overweight, and he thought offering to pay me would be an incentive—like I didn’t really care about losing the weight otherwise.
I’m sure his intention behind this offer was well meaning—he probably was seeing this woman, his daughter, who would probably never marry and have a family because she was fat.
I laughed it off, saying 100 pounds?!? Even my brother who will gladly take any opportunity to make fun of me said, Yeah, Jesus dad, 100 pounds?! My dad laughed and said something about he was just doing the calculation. Too late—it was already burned into my brain.
I tell you this story not to digress, but to impress upon you that we are constantly bombarded by the “fact” that we are not good enough as we are, largely from cultural expectations fueled by the relentless diet industry, and sometimes even from the people closest to us.
And that leads to the Law of Attraction failing us. Oh, wait, that never happens.
What is really happening is that our thoughts and beliefs about ourselves, and how to fix the “problem” of not being good enough, are totally out of whack. Instead of solving anything they are actually perpetuating the perceived problem by keeping us in the vibration of it.
Until we change these negative thoughts and beliefs about ourselves we are going to keep getting the same results—we might be able to force the weight off for a period of time. But if we continue to believe that it is still not good enough, that we are still not good enough, it will come back.
If you are struggling with weight please know THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU! That is just what we have been led to believe. And that belief can be changed—this is the first step.
