Who’s the Real Fool Here?

I awoke at 3 AM in the living room chair, an unfinished glass of wine next to me, the television still on.  What I saw was shocking—Donald Trump giving what seemed to be a victory speech.  On the bottom of the screen some untallied states still scrolled by.  I did not want to know anything further.  It’s probably just Trump being Trump, claiming victory before all is said and done.  This will all be resolved in the morning.

I awoke again at 6:30 and a little reluctantly grabbed my phone to quickly see the outcome.  Wow, I thought, given his character alone I didn’t think this could ever happen.  Wow.

Then I did what was not so smart in the moment—I scrolled through Facebook knowing I would see a lot of angry and fearful comments, which I did, and I started to feel fearful.

Then I stopped.

I laid back down and started doing Ho’oponopono, an ancient Hawaiian healing technique, saying four simple phrases over and over, I’m sorry, please forgive me, thank you, I love you.  I took complete responsibility in that moment, that if I am feeling fear I am adding to the fearful vibration that is prevalent, and I am not aligned with the vibration of peace, light, and love, which is the vibration of the evolution of humanity.

Most often it takes a crisis for us to make greater strides to evolve.  It takes a crisis for us to release separation and come together.  It’s a choice, whether it appears to be or not.  We have the choice to live in the fear that we are a divided nation, that we are separate and without power, or to live from a place of love, knowing that we are all the creators of our own reality.

This is a circumstance.  I my opinion, not a very good circumstance.  You may agree with me or not, and either way it doesn’t matter.  Our power lies in how we react to this circumstance.  If we react with fear, anger, and hate, we are adding to that vibration.  And I think if we look deep within ourselves, we can all agree that we would rather not live in a fearful vibration.

Now it is time to take responsibility.  Fear is useful when you are being chased by a bear and you need your fight or flight response to kick in.  But to live in fear is debilitating, personally and collectively.

So, this has happened.  This is the circumstance we are now faced with.  What can you do?

You can continue to be passionate about the values you believe in.  You can work to uplift others by coming from a place of love, from that beautiful Divine vibration that is in all of us.  When someone sees that light in you, it makes it easier for them to see it in themselves, and others.  This is how we evolve.

violetThe African violet that sits beside my desk bloomed this morning.  It tree-from-windowhas not bloomed since I first got it.  I look from that outside to my neighbor’s tree and the color is stunning.  The beauty of nature, especially seeing that bloom this very morning, reminds me that we are always OK, because there is something at work that is so much greater than this human form, and we are all a part of it.

Being human is a tricky business.  Don’t be fooled into living in fear.  Coming from a place of peace and love is the way, regardless of the circumstances, and it happens one person at a time.  The good news is, you don’t have to change anyone else.  It all begins and ends with you.
